For example, the Staatstheater Kassel offers job training to become a make-up artist in 2015, among other things. An overview of the career: make-up artists create and realize make-up concepts for stage, film or television productions in cooperation with the directors, costume or stage designers. They apply make-up or do performers’ hair and are responsible for their make-up during the performances or shooting. Extension of the ALG I special regulations to the benefit of employees in the cultural sector

On 15.10.2014, the federal government decided that the special regulations for the eased procurement of ALG I for mostly short-term employees, which was limited to December 2014 at first, will now be extended for one year. State minister Monika Grütters explained: “The continuation of this ALG I regulation is of great importance for employees in the cultural sector. With this extension, the federal government gained time to deal with necessary improvements in social security after short-term employment. I will continue to be committed to ensuring that this limited regulation is replaced by a follow-up regulation that sufficiently accounts for the special circumstances of career biographies in the cultural sector in accordance with the coalition agreement.”
While one generally gains a right to unemployment benefits I (ALG I) if one is employed for 12 months in a job subject to social insurance contributions within a two year period, the special regulation that has now been extended has eased prerequisites: you can attain ALG I benefits if you were employed for six months in a job subject to social insurance contributions within a two year period and the majority of these jobs were limited to no more than 10 weeks. In addition, a certain level of income can’t exceed a certain level.

Comparison of foreign qualifications

Dance careers have long been global, and in this sense they are a trendsetter for an increasingly internationalized labor market. But if you are unsure if you can apply for a position in the public sector, for example, as a research assistant at a university of the arts, you can get advice.
The statewide IQ network (central headquarters for the recognition of qualifications in Bonn) and its partners support you with general advisement, tests and certifications for diplomas attained in foreign countries.

Dance on ensemble – Call for applications

DANCE ON is an initiative for dancers over the age of 40. It has been conceived by Diehl Ritter and made possible thanks to the support of Germany’s Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM).

It is a multi-faceted initiative, but at its core is the DANCE ON Ensemble, which will be made up of artists over 40 who will collaborate in the creation of new work with a select group of some of today’s most interesting choreographers and theatre makers. Work will be carried out under the artistic direction of Christopher Roman. The sustainability of these artists’ experience and the physical embodiment of the culmination of their life’s work are two reasons why DANCE ON is such a key initiative in the current dance landscape. The creation of new work aims to highlight the value of these artists as well as the need for their presence, as they continue to contribute to today‘s dance dialogue.

DANCE ON is calling for applications from dancers aged over 40, with a high level of professional and artistic experience and interested in committing to this exciting new initiative for a period of two years, starting November 2015, as members of the core ensemble.

Deadline for applications is 10 December 2014. Mehr unter: WWW.DIEHL-RITTER.DE
